Greek Islands Gate Visa Guide (2026)

The Greek gate visa is a short-term visa required for Turkish citizens planning to travel to the Aegean Islands. With this visa, you can travel to the islands of Kos, Rhodes, Kastellorizo (Meis), Lesbos (Midilli), Samos, and Chios (Sakız).

The Kos Island gate visa is single-entry and allows a maximum stay of 7 days. This visa is only valid for the island you applied for, and transit between islands is not permitted.

Application Timing

Gate visa applications must be submitted at least 5 working days before the travel date. All documents must be submitted completely. Applications from citizens with a TRNC (Northern Cyprus) entry stamp in their passports will not be accepted.

Required Documents

  • 2. Biometric photo: 2 photos (3.5x4.5 cm), taken within the last 6 months.
  • 3. Passport copy: The passport must not be older than 10 years and must be valid for at least 3 months after the end of the trip.
  • 4. ID card copy: Both sides, must match the passport information.

  • 6. Bank account statement: A document covering the last 3 months with a minimum balance of 450 EUROS.
  • 7. Ferry ticket: A purchased ticket must be presented, not a reservation.
  • 8. Hotel reservation: Must be confirmed. If staying with family/friends, an invitation and address details are required.

Important Information

  • Gate visas are not issued to individuals who have previously had a Schengen visa application rejected.
  • Within a 90-day period, the 7-day visa can be obtained up to 12 times.
  • Only Turkish citizens can apply.
  • The visa is single-entry and valid for 6 nights and 7 days.
  • Ticket and visa fees are non-refundable.
  • A visa application does not guarantee approval.
  • Travel can only be done on morning ferries.
